Watch the New Tension-Filled ‘Rogue One’ Trailer

Nearly a month ago, the Star Wars faithful gathered in London for fan convention Star Wars Celebration Europe and witnessed the latest trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The commoners stuck on the buffering live-stream have had no other choice but to be patient while holding their breath for the clip’s release online, but the wait is finally over. The new Rogue One preview is here, and it’s as glorious as we had hoped.

In the new trailer, the tension builds as the rebellion plots a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, the Empire’s fiercest weapon.

SWCE also showed a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel, showing the actors at work before the magic of special effects transport them into an alien world. A new theatrical one-sheet poster for Rogue One also surfaced, contrasting the looming menace of the far-off Death Star with a beach-set shootout in the foreground between the Rebellion and Galactic Empire forces.

The new preview expands on the first trailer released back in April, which gave an early look at Jones’ character Jyn Erso, a spy working with the rebellion to topple the evil Galactic Empire by pilfering the plans for their Death Star superweapon. A tough-cookie sort of operator in the tradition of Han Solo, she’s expected to be the breakout character in the hotly anticipated spinoff to the new trilogy of sequels. (Star Wars Episode VIII won’t arrive until December 15th, 2017.)

Fans will have to wait four more months before getting an eyeful of the last big cinematic-event release of 2016, but poring through every frame of this trailer for clues and hints at what’s to come should keep even the most dedicated Jedi Knight busy for a while.
