Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 2 to revamp Action Center

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is the first major update that the operating system has seen this year. Microsoft promised that the company will release two major “feature” updates every year to the OS. While we will keep seeing the cumulative updates each month, feature updates will only be rolled out twice a year.

Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 2 update might be released at the end of this year, but many have suggested for a Spring 2017 release timeline. This second wave will mostly feature changes that couldn’t be part of the August update as they weren’t ready for public release. During the development of Redstone 1, we have seen the Windows team cutting down on many features to focus more on stability and performance improvements.

Microsoft to split Action Center in “Actions” and “Toggles”

These leaked screenshots reveal that Microsoft will divide Action Center into two distinct parts: Actions and Toggles. This new Action Center also adds a brightness slider, very similar to what other leading mobile operating systems already offer. Based on internal feedback, Actions in the redesigned Action Center will allow you to perform tasks that open other apps, such as launching the camera or taking a note. Whereas, toggles will simply let you turn things on and off – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Airplane Mode, etc.

Believed to have been originated from internal Microsoft communications, this redesigned Action Center looks much cleaner and better organized than its current version. As always, we will recommend taking this leak with  a pinch of salt too. However, this does look like a welcome change to Windows 10 Mobile.
