Android 7.0 Nougat lands officially!

Update : Android 7.0 Nougat has landed in it’s final form. Google says the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will receive the over-the-air update over the next few weeks, while only a few Nexus owners will receive the OTA from today.Any devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program will also receive this final version.

Original : New information surfaced showing that Canadian carrier Telus pins the launch of Android 7.0 Nougat on August 22, as the date when Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will be receiving the update. The Canadian carrier would be delivering the software update for the two smartphone models on Monday.

Google’s release of the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat is surely one the biggest events of this year, but the unveil date was unknown. Google released the final Android N Developer Preview a while ago and the company also revealed the name of the upcoming Android OS, together with the traditional statue of the upcoming OS version.

For what it’s worth, Telus was accurate with its launch date for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, according to Android Central. They also cite LG’s limited preview program for Korean G5s as an evidence that signals towards this particular date being the launch date for Android Nougat.

If Android Nougat does really land on Monday, an announcement early in the morning followed by system images and an OTA update for Nexus owners can be expected. That should rather officially confirm this probable speculation.

Reports and evidence suggest Google will also unveil two new Nexus devices soon, though rumours are they’ll not coincide with next week’s possible Android 7.0 release this time. The LG V20 apparently will be the first device to ship with Nougat, which means we can probably expect Marlin and Sailfish, the codenames for these Nexus phones, to come out shortly after. Google did release the Android N developer previews earlier this year and the official launch was being expected to be earlier than every year too in a bid to provide OEMs with more time to work on updates.

Mark your calendars Nexus Owners because it’s sounding like Monday, Aug. 22 is going to be a good day to be a Nexus owner. This is the day you can rub it in everyone’s faces. Although, try being nice 🙂
