HTC came out with a new mid-range handset last year which at first glance looked quite similar to the iPhone. The HTC One A9 has been around for a while now and it’s time for the handset to receive an upgrade and thus, HTC is launching the successor to its HTC One A9 smartphone at IFA 2016. The device is currently making some noise after its render leaked online, showing what appears to be the iPhone 6s from the back.
Famous leakster Evan Blass took to Venture Beat to exclusively drop the news about the HTC One A9s this Monday. A picture of the HTC One A9s has been leaked online and what’s interesting about the news is that the render that came along with it shows the upcoming device’s eerie resemblance to Apple’s current iPhone. Even the name itself – the “s” after the A9 – is something you would rather expect from Apple on a year it doesn’t want to make revolutionary updates to the iPhone.
To ensure that there were some design differences between the HTC One A9 and the iPhone 6, the Taiwanese company made some minor tweaks to the overall design, however, with the A9s it appears to be a full believer in imitation being the best form of flattery. The camera and flash which used to be centered have now been moved to the top left corner. The front camera has been moved to the left of the smaller earpiece while all of the sensors are now centered about the earpiece.
All of these tweaks make the A9s look more like the iPhone 6. The only major differentiating factor is that fortunately, HTC decided to keep its standard Home button instead of creating a circular one that’s very typical of the iPhone handsets. Commenting on how HTC is planning on showcasing another iPhone-like device, Droid Life wrote that for the Taiwanese company to launch a refresh of the One A9 with the addition of an “s” to the successor’s name is “hysterical” and “embarrassing.”
The image has been leaked by noted leakster @evleaks who says that we should expect HTC to launch the One A9s at IFA in Berlin later this week.
There’s no word on pricing or a launch date yet, but the One A9s will allegedly be available in white, black, gold, and silver color options. It’s said that HTC will announce the One A9s on Sept. 1, one day before IFA 2016 kicks off.
