Just yesterday we reported about the false reports about Microsoft leaking Surface Book 2 and today, there are reports of Xperia X Compact’s supposed specs being revealed on GFX Bench. We’d like you to know that sadly, those beefed specs are not of the highly anticipated Xperia smartphone.
Sony is definitely among the companies that will unveil new products at IFA 2016 early next month keeping up with their tradition. Word is, there will be at least two Xperia smartphones this year one of which is supposed to be an Xperia X Compact, along with a refreshed PS4 version called Playstation 4 Neo. Sony also recently unveiled the Playstation Now for PC users.
Telefoonabonnement.nl, which has been picking up some great GFXBench logs early in the game, has caught another GFX Bench result that it reported to be of the Xperia X Compact and various other websites have reported about these leaked specs. According to the list of specs, Phonearena concluded, “the alleged Xperia X Compact should be powered by a 2.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM. There will be 64GB of storage inside, but there’s no mention of microSD card slot. Also, the Xperia X Compact will sport a 4.6-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.”
Here’s the screenshot from GFX Bench that is supposedly of the Xperia X compact :
The only indicative feature that would somehow cause one to conclude that this smartphone is one of Sony’s small ones is a 4.6-inch screen. The usual size in the android world is 4.7-inches, 4.6-inches is sort of a Sony thing. There is no other mention or hint at this being a Sony smartphone. The listing also suggests that the Xperia X Compact should be running Android 6.0.1 with Cyanogen Mod. Pocket-Now suggested this is “likely for testing reasons”. But comparing this screenshot that the websites are sharing with the bench results of the ZTE NX531J Nubia, it is clear as water that this alleged bench result of Xperia X Compact is indeed just a ZTE Nubia.
This is an Elite variant of the Nubia Z11. If you’re a Sony fan and had read the previous reports, it’s obvious this will come as a disappointment. Sony Compact phones have been known to pack some serious flagship specs in a compact size, and this time as per the reports the display could’ve been a 1080p display and while we do hope it is, don’t count on these bench results to be an indicator of that being a reality. Kudos to PocketNow for updating their post with the corrected information.
