Just yesterday we saw the Nexus Sailfish or the Google pixel in new detailed renders and in a 360° video, today, we have the larger sibling, Nexus Marlin or the Google pixel XL not in a video but new detailed renders in a clear TPU back case.
The images were leaked on Weibo yesterday itself. We were a little late to spot them unfortunately. The phone is expected to be made official on October 4th along with the smaller screened Pixel (or Nexus Sailfish). The Pixel XL is expected to feature a 5.5-inch display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution screen. The Snapdragon 820 or 821 chipset will be under the hood, with a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. 4GB of RAM is inside and a 12MP camera will be found on the back of the phone.
These renders confirm what has previously been reported, a Google logo on the back and a dual colour design, the homescreen however looks a little dated because the new Nexus/Pixel launcher is expected to replace the Google search bar with a Google Pill and date widget similar to what has been adopted in the latest version of Action Launcher.
We can see multiple camera sensors on the back and an unusually large LED flash suggesting Google’s next flagship will be quite capable in the camera department just as the Nexus 6P was. Nexus phones have not been known for their camera before the Nexus 6P and 5X and its good to see Google focusing on the camera on its phones. There is no new information here but more of a confirmation that the reports have been spot on.
Do you like this dual color design? Many fans seem to be upset with it just like they were with the Nexus 6P camera bump. But then they not only accepted it but loved it, which is probably why it seems it has melted and has now flown further down the back. It does look quite unique.
