Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 A with S-Pen launched (in Korea)

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A is a line of Android tablets that tend to have more modest specs (and price tags) than Samsung’s more premium S series. But Samsung’s latest A series tablet has one feature the company usually reserves for its high-end devices: an S-Pen that you can use for writing, drawing, or other activities. Samsung has unveiled a new variant of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) tablet which comes with the S Pen. The new tablet has been unveiled in South Korea and comes at SKW 489,000 (~ $435 / ₹29,500 / €389).

The new Galaxy Tab A sports a 10.1-inch WUXGA TFT screen and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow backed by Samsung’s proprietary Exynos octa-core CPU, 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory, 8MP primary camera with LED flash on the back, a 2MP snapper on the front and a 7,300mAh battery with upto 14hour runtime. It weighs just over 1.2 pounds and measures 10″ x 6.5″ x 0.3″.

To recall, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) was launched in May and came Wi-Fi and LTE variants priced at €289 and €349 respectively and came with 2GB of RAM, though it was powered by the same chipset. The all-new Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) with S Pen features new tools for stylus that were seen on the Galaxy Note 7 smartphonesuch as the numerous gesture controls, air command, S Memo, GIF animations with Smart Select, Air Command functions, Magnify, Translate, Samsung Notes, a new unified app allowing users to jot down handwritten notes, draw, or edit memos from one location.

It was previously rumoured that Samsung will be launching such a variant of the Galaxy Tab A with S pen but this quiet launch in South Korea seems interesting. Could it be that amidst the Galax Note 7 issues Samsung did not want any more attention? It’s anyone’s guess. Hopefully this new Galaxy Tab A variant will make its way to other markets as well allowing users to finally, fully take advantage of the S pen on a large screen.

Are you excited for the new Galaxy Tab A 10.1?
