EE will carry Google’s Pixel phones in the UK

For what feels like an age now, we’ve been hearing of stories of the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones from Google. We’ve seen them leak out in rumors, in detailed site listings, as well as in the flesh here and there as well. We know almost everything. Talk about killing a surprise.

UK retailer Carphone Warehouse did quite a good job at leaking even more than we already knew, after Canadian carriers Bell and Telus leaked press renders of the phones. Then US carrier Verizon joined the party revealing a blue variant of the phone in never seen before renders, so its not surprising now that EE, a carrier in UK, is also now teasing the Google Pixel Event due in a few hours from now.
EE hasn’t leaked much, even if it wanted to, I don’t know what else remains to still get leaked about the smartphones in question. But one thing seems certain, and that is, EE will be carrying at least one of Google’s new Pixel phones.  The operator’s site is now promoting Google’s “big announcement” taking place at 5 p.m.

Nexus devices have long enjoyed widespread carrier adoption in the UK, and there’s a good chance the same will apply to the Pixel and Pixel XL. The frequency of carrier and retailer leaks of the Pixel phones makes it very likely that pre-orders (at the very least) will go live later today. Clearly Google’s partners are getting things prepared behind the scenes, with the aim of launching immediately after today’s event.

We’ve seen leak after leak confirming the new Snapdragon 821 as well as their AMOLED panels and other features such as options for 32GB or 128GB of storage. Rear-facing cameras appear to be the same at 12.3-megapixel, but given the excellent results that we got from last year’s Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, this shouldn’t put anyone off.

Brits looking to catch all of the news later today will be able to watch the livestream starting 5:00 PM (BST) later today. In fact, how about you watch the LIVE stream right here?
