Google began playing with app streaming about a year ago via searches in the Google app for a few specific apps. Google Play Store’s app streaming feature has started rolling out to users in some countries, such as the United States. This feature lets users try an app or game for 10 minutes before they buy it and install it on their devices as you may have learned from the title.
If the game is available for streaming you’ll see a ‘Try Now’ button next to the buy button. Reportedly, the feature is prone to crashing sometimes, but it’s mostly working as intended. Streamed apps have a floating button that opens a menu which lets you exit the stream, learn more about the feature, and a green line around the icon also shows you how much streaming time you have left. While there’s no limit to how many times you can stream an app, you can’t pick up from where you left in your last session for obvious reasons.
It may be possible Google spends a few minutes talking about this feature tomorrow at the Pixel Event. This feature will soon be coming for other apps as well I hope but until then, its only available for some games.
Go check your Playstore client and let me know if you already have this feature.
