Google had its big moment yesterday with its Made by Google devices, specially the Pixel smartphones. Google will now be foreseeing every aspect of their Android ecosystem including smartphone sales. The Pixels represent the best hardware Google had to offer , great cameras, and impressive software integration, but if there is one thin missing that is suddenly the hot feature in town, its water resistance. Both phones are rated IP53, as rumoured.
And this is where accessories come into play. They are known to offer ruggedness and waterproofing to phones along with adding to the looks department and not surprisingly, new case covers and other accessories for Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL phones are now making their presence felt in the market.
Well-known case maker LifeProof has announced new cases for the Pixel and Pixel XL phones named FRĒ which are waterproof cases specifically designed for the two new Google phones. As far as their capabilities are concerned, FRĒ cases will make the Pixel and Pixel XL phones water-proof and drop-proof to up to 6.6 feet as well as dirt-proof and snow-proof. A built-in scratch protector screen will also keep the display screens of the two phones scratch-proof, hopefully ensuring they stay looking as good as new.
For Pixel and Pixel XL owners, these new cases will ensure that they won’t have to worry much about their phones’ IP53 ratings. So its good news for people disappointed with the Pixel’s lack of water resistance, well, as long as you don’t mind slapping a case on it.
These cases will be sold directly through Verizon in the near future; the pricing is unknown currently, but if you follow Verdict, be assured you’ll be kept updated!
