Google Pixel : Pose by you, Phone by Google

Google is on a roll ever since and even before October 4 when it launched the first phones “made by Google.” The Search giant is really ramping up its advertising skills (and budget) for the Pixel and Pixel XL while we wait for the phones to ship starting October 20th in the States and 26th in India. This is probably a result of the fact that these phones are not LG Nexus 5X or Huawei Nexus 6P but Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. Releasing phones under its own brand name has got Google to push them hard and this is the third ad within a week.

And I have to say, Google is killing it with these ads. The Pixel and Pixel XL have already sold the first batch within days.

These ads are nothing like an iPhone or Samsung ad. They don’t go on to show what the phone can do, although I wish they did, but they don’t. Perhaps later?

Just like the last two ads this one starts with the Google search bar, transforming slowly into the Pixel form factor to show a dog. But hey, at least the song is awesome! And I don’t own a dog but I can totally feel how this might appeal to a dog owner. Or is it just me fan-boying over it? Let me know. These ads give off a simple, clean and easy-going feeling, which is what the Pixel phones are all about.

A few days ago, the company released two new promo videos titled ‘Crush by you’ and ‘Together by you’ and its evidently clear that Google has grabbed onto the essence of iPhone and Galaxy ads rather than copy them downright, and it is to appeal to the customer’s psyche, and emotion rather than his or her intellect.

So what do you think? Do these vague ads work on you? Do they make you want the Google Pixel if you didn’t already?
