Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the next killer flagship smartphone from Xiaomi is yet to be announced later this month in China. Ahead of the launch, as usual, many leaks and rumors have been surfacing among netizens. The last leak of the live images of Mi Note 2 showed the device in many stunning color options including dark-light greens, rose, blue, indigo, gold, etc., and with a curved edge display sported.
But now, some leaked photos that are allegedly of this upcoming phablet have emerged on the web showcasing some pretty slim bezels.
From the previous leaks, Xiaomi’s next flagship is thought that this upcoming device will pack a 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED display with a resolution of a 2560 × 1440. It’s rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core CPU along with an Adreno 530 GPU. Two vertically placed camera are also expected to sit on the back of the device along with a dual-tone LED flashlight – as seen in the previous leak. The device is also expected to pack 6GB of RAM and could come in multiple storage variants just like previous Xiaomi devices, while on the software side, you can expect the device to come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top but chances are it could also come running the latest version of Android, Android 7.0 Nougat, out of the box.
These new alleged images of the Xiaomi Mi 2 Note have shown up on the Chinese micro-blogging site, Weibo, just recently and from what can be seen in the images, it looks like the upcoming Mi Note 2 device might come with ultra-thin bezels, but what is more surprising is that the front facing camera, ambient light sensor and earpiece are nowhere to be found above the screen of the device. As you can see in the images below, the device in question has very thin bezels while the upper top portion, which usually houses the camera and sensor is entirely omitted. That being said, the validity of any of these leaked images cannot be confirmed and it’s possible that the pictures could be of a completely new device that is still in development at Xiaomi. Unfortunately, the leaked images don’t provide any other information.
As for the pricing, according to a recent rumour, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 could end up costing around 4000 yuan ($600) and the device is expected to launch by the end of this month. If I had to speculate a bit more on this, remember the flexible paper like display from Xiaomi? I’d say if that was true, it makes sense that Xiaomi will try to pull a stunt with the Mi Note 2. They can’t yet make the entire phone flexible but it sure looks like that bendable display has been slid over in a metal case to make this Mi Note 2.
But it is to be noted that this leak doesn’t seem to be the most trustworthy piece of info that leaked in the last couple of weeks. This seems to be a concept design a the very best, so truth be told, I do not expect Xiaomi to introduce this smartphone anytime soon, which probably means that this is not the Mi Note 2, no matter how bad we want it to be.
