We’ve heard a lot about the Huawei Mate 9, but so far images of it have been limited to renders and prototypes, at least until today. On November 3rd, the Huawei Mate 9 will be unveiled, and as we get closer, the device as should be expected would remain on the front burner of discussions till it is finally launched.
The latest we have got on the Mate 9 are a couple of live images and a picture that emanated from Weibo and is said to be a pre-launch page by China Mobile. Pictured below is the flat-screened Manhattan version of the Mate 9 in a gold body color.
The company’s branding is placed below the Mate 9’s display, and the fingerprint reader can be found on the back of the phone. You can also see the dual camera setup on the back of this phone, and if a recent rumor is to be believed, we’re looking at a 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel combo here. The dual camera setup if flanked by a dual-LED flash and laser autofocus sensor, while you can find the company’s branding on the very bottom of the phone’s back side.
I’m not entirely sure this is the real deal however because for one, there doesn’t seem to be a Leica branding anywhere on the phone. Not that it’s 100% confirmed, but the Huawei Mate 9 is widely expected to have Leica’s Lenses and it would be odd that Huawei would end their partnership with Leica already, considering the Leica branded cameras were the USP of the Huawei P9. Not to mention every Mate 9 render until now had Leica prominently stamped in one place or another.
Additionally, the dual-camera setup is missing a black inlay around the lenses, which the latest renders would have us believe is the final design. I’d let you be the judge on the authenticity of these images.
Another leaked image shows off the pre-order listing for the Huawei Mate 9, and this seems to be China Mobile’s listing. Now, thanks to this image, we get to see some spec info for the Huawei Mate 9. The listing says that the phone will sport a 5.9-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. In addition to that, it will be fueled by the Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor, and Android 7.0 Nougat will come pre-installed on this phablet, along with Huawei’s Emotion UI skin. The listing also says that the Mate 9 will ship with 20-megapixel and 12-megapixel camera sensors on the back, which only confirms the info that Chinese analyst shared quite recently.
The Huawei Mate 9 will be introduced on November 3rd in Munich, Germany, the company has already confirmed this info.
