Android Nougat was released on August 22 and was available for a long time as a developer preview version before that. Despite this, outside of the Nexus and Pixels, none of the devices are running the latest version of Android. In fact, only 0.3% of all android devices are currently on Android Nougat.
The Moto Z and Moto Z force started receiving the Nougat update a couple of days ago and now many Moto Z Droid and Z Droid Force users on Verizon are receiving the update as well.
This update brings the devices to Android 7.0 (not 7.1) which is currently the latest version available officially for non-Pixel devices. The software comes with the November 1 security patch and also adds support for Daydream VR making the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force join the ZTE Axon 7 as the only non-Pixel devices with the feature.
The update also brings support for Camera API2 which allows applications to take more control of camera features and functions.
This is a pretty huge update that is 1586 MB in size so you might want to download it over Wi-Fi. Software updates usually roll out over the course of several days and this update is no exception so users who haven’t already seen it should receive an OTA update notification sometime soon.
Have you received the update? Did you run into any bugs? Share your experience in the comments.
