Sony today started rolling out an official Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Xperia X Performance, almost one month after releasing a Nougat beta program for the same device. The Sony Xperia X Performance is the first in the Xperia lineup of smartphones to begin getting the over-the-air update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
The OTA update which will bring the handset to firmware build number 39.2.A.0.327. has reportedly begun rolling out in some sections of the world for the Xperia X Performance (model number F8131), along with its Dual SIM variant (model number F8132).
There’s no word officially on which regions of the world are getting the update for the Xperia X Performance, but it looks like the Nougat update is available only in select markets like Australia, Russia, and Latin America right now. We can assume it won’t be long before it reaches users of unlocked versions of the phone worldwide.
Xperia X Performance was supposed to get the update as much as a month earlier so while the Nougat update is behind the schedule, it remains true that the X Performance is the first to receive it. The Xperia XZ should be next followed by these models: Xperia X, Xperia X Compact, Xperia Z5 (all versions), Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia XA, and Xperia XA Ultra. Most probably, some of these devices will not be updated before the end of 2016.
The update brings Nougat features that were previously not on Marshmallow such as native support for split-screen windows, some new options in the Sony Camera viewfinder, improved touch sensitivity and improved Stamina mode for extending battery life. If you’ve not yet gotten it, you can go to your ‘Settings’ > ‘About Device’ > and then tap ‘Software Updates’.
If you have an Xperia X Performance, let us know in the comments if y0u have or have not received the update yet.
