Sony Xperia Z5 family now receiving the Android Nougat update

The Xperia Z5 family from Sony – Z5, Z5 compact, Z5 Premium – were the next in line for the Android Nougat update list of Sony after the Xperia X and X compact which received the update after  Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ . The OTA has started rolling out to some Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium users bearing the version number 32.3.A.0.372 and a size of 1.3 GB, so make sure to download over Wi-Fi (or update through the Xperia Companion on your PC).

This update – which is expected to soon arrive for the Xperia X Compact as well as the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 Tablet – introduces multi-window support, a “more personal” home screen and improved battery life taking advantage of Nougat’s Doze battery saving system, in addition to Sony’s own STAMINA mode, to help manage battery levels. Sony  has added three new power saving settings designed to prioritize performance or standby times.

Sony also mentions in the release notes that the update brings a new selfie-timer button for the front-facing camera and Google Now integration into the Xperia launcher. If your phone hasn’t received the OTA notice yet, check manually and be patient. These things take a while to reach everyone.
