A new patent reveals LG working on transparent foldable displays

We’ve been hearing about foldable paper-like smartphone displays, and just displays in general as well, for quite a while now. But transparent displays? They’ve never been a hot topic of discussion even though every sci-fi movie does feature transparent displays rather than foldable displays. Whatever the future of smartphones and gadgets looks like, companies like Samsung and LG are doing all they can to beat the other at the next big thing.

Android 7.0 Nougat has been rolling out to Nexus 5X and 6P for a while now and many have been enjoying the latest android but Google held the update back for a little while to work out a few battery optimization issues as was reported by Vodafone Australia.

Google posted the OTA and Factory Images of Android 7.0 Nougat on Thursday night, finally giving Nexus 6P owners access to the new software.

This version has build number NRD90U and contains the September security update.

On a related note, the Nexus 2016 handsets dubbed “Google Pixel” and “Google Pixel XL” are gearing up for launch, most probably on the 4th of October. A credible source recently noted that these smartphones will run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.

Breaking the tradition, Google allowed LG to steal the limelight. In fact, the recently released LG V20 is the first smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Why removal of headphone jack in the iPhone 7 is not “courage” but “greed”

There’s a growing trend among smartphone manufacturers to do away with the 3.5mm audio jack that has long been the standard connector for a huge range of audio equipment over the past century. Motorola’s new Moto Z doesn’t feature a 3.5mm audio connector, neither does LeEco’s latest range of smartphones, and Apple has finally done away with the socket this year too. Apple Inc unveiled an iPhone 7 with high-resolution cameras and no headphone jack at its annual launch event Wednesday, though the biggest surprise was the debut of a three-decade-old Nintendo game franchise, Super Mario Bros, on the smartphone.  While shares of Apple barely budged, Nintendo’s U.S.-listed shares jumped 29 pct on investors’ hopes that Super Mario would be a mobile gaming hit for the Japanese company. In a different but related news,  Pokemon Go is coming to the Apple watch

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 is just a month old and LG just unveiled its latest flagship the V20 while the Note 7 is still making headlines (for unfortunate reasons). And then the LG V20 has a huge 5.7 inch display. It seems like LG is screaming for a comparison with the Note 7 or its just us justifying our need to compare the two Korean rivals.
