Each iteration of the Sony Xperia flagship has almost always brought with it new themes and Live Wallpapers. Lately though it seemed Sony had decided to discontinue that trend since they did not launch any new live wallpapers after the Xperia Z5 line. Fortunately for fans though, Xperia XZ Premium and XZs did bring new themes and a new live wallpaper with them. Sony’s new Xperia XA with weirdly thick top and bottom bezels leaked on video

A new video has surfaced online allegedly showcasing an Xperia XA 2017 unit. The video shows a prototype of the device in various angles, and a few menu screens that show its model number, Android version, and its January 5 security patch. Sony Xperia Z5 family now receiving the Android Nougat update

The Xperia Z5 family from Sony – Z5, Z5 compact, Z5 Premium – were the next in line for the Android Nougat update list of Sony after the Xperia X and X compact which received the update after  Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ . The OTA has started rolling out to some Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium users bearing the version number 32.3.A.0.372 and a size of 1.3 GB, so make sure to download over Wi-Fi (or update through the Xperia Companion on your PC).

Is this the Xperia XZ 2017?

As Sony is working on new devices to unleash in 2017, one of those devices could be particularly exciting. The Japanese tech giant could launch an edge-less handset in 2017, presumably dubbed as the Xperia XZ 2017. Sony looks set to continue its OmniBalance design language into 2017 if this latest rumoured leak turns out to be true.

Sony’s second flagship Xperia XZ receives the sweet Nougat update

Did Sony’s roadmap for rolling out the Nougat update sound too good to be true? It kind of was since October came and went, and so did November and yet the company couldn’t manage to roll out a public preview of the latest OS build for even one of its two flagships. But just on the last day of November, that is yesterday, Sony began rolling out the Nougat update to unlocked versions of Xperia X Performance.

Sony Xperia X Performance is receiving the Android Nougat update now

Sony today started rolling out an official Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Xperia X Performance, almost one month after releasing a Nougat beta program for the same device. The Sony Xperia X Performance is the first in the Xperia lineup of smartphones to begin getting the over-the-air update to Android 7.0 Nougat.

You may already know that unsurprisingly the Sony Xperia XZ and X Compact shipped to the US have disabled fingerprint scanners just like every other Sony Xperia before them. Xperia XZ now available in the US for a whopping $699

The Sony Xperia XZ is now available for purchase unlocked and contract-free in the United States, but it comes with quite a hefty price tag. The Xperia XZ costs a whopping $699.99, a price point that puts it at the steep end of the smartphone market.

The device, which went up for pre-order last month, gets an aluminum build and a strong set of internal features. If you’re looking to join the ranks of the early adopters, you can snag the XZ on Amazon in either Black or Silver. Oddly, the Forest Blue color that showed up during the pre-order phase is no longer available on Amazon. Sony Xperia XZ and X Performance may receive Android Nougat as early as October

Soon after Google released the Android Nougat to the Nexus series devices, Sony announced the list of devices eligible for the Android 7.0 update. But, the details with regard to the time frame of the roll-out plan were withheld.

Now, a presentation slide understood to be showcased in the recently concluded Sony Slovakia’s closed-door meeting leaked online revealing Android Nougat release schedule details.
