Harman Audio could come to Samsung’s Galaxy Smartphones, but not in the Galaxy S8

Samsung was eyeing Harman to strengthen its connected automobiles business, where Harman is a leading player. But it’s natural to wonder if Samsung will use Harman’s audio experience in its smartphones. Well, wonder no more.

Samsung’s S-series of Galaxy phones may come with high-end Harman speakers in 2018, the company hinted during a press conference in Seoul. The information comes a week after the South Korean tech giant acquired Harman International Industries in a deal worth $8 billion. Samsung is buying audio and automotive specialist Harman for $8 billion in cash

Samsung has announced this morning it’s buying US audio company Harman in an all-cash deal worth $8 billion. This will be Samsung’s biggest acquisition to date when the deal closes.

You have almost certainly heard the name Harman when it comes to audio products, but the company has spent the last few years getting big into automotive technology as well. USB-IF USB audio device class 3.0 specs promise the end of 3.5mm port

Apple said it took ‘courage’ to eliminate the 3.5mm audio port from the latest iPhone 7. While that’s clearly not true, whether you like it or not, the industry is likely to follow Apple’s footsteps and the latest update from USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) ensures the end of jurassic 3.5mm audio ports from your gadgets.

The natural progression of technology is slowly killing the iconic jack and moving towards making the USB port more accessible. To make that happen, USB Implementers Forum recently published its Audio Device Class 3.0 specification, which will provide device makers the solution they need to get audio over USB Type-C port. LG V20 teaser boasts of the phone’s audio capabilities

Most flagship phones turn away from incorporating a superior audio chip, because they believe that it’s the least of their concerns. LG V20 to be the first smartphone with Quad DACs

So we know that LG’s hopes and dreams are riding upon the LG V20 the way Jor-El’s were on his son (a silly Superman reference) and that it will be the first smartphone to launch with Android 7.0 Nougat in tow.

Interestingly enough it seems that LG is slowly teasing the specs of the phone ahead of the official reveal because in their latest announcement, LG yesterday announced that they will be bringing Hi-Fi sound to their upcoming V20 smartphone, via a partnership with ESS Technology to make the audio quality a “one-of-a-kind experience.” Earlier this month, LG officially confirmed that the V20 smartphone would be launching this September
