After months of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally taken the wraps off its new flagship smartphone at its ‘Curved to impress’ event in Beijing, China. Called the Mi Note 2, the smartphone is successor to the Mi Note that was launched back in January 2015. The smartphone’s highlight is the use of both front and back 3D curved glass, which also gives the Mi Note 2 a dual-edge curved display like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, though perhaps not as extreme in scope. The company is calling it a two-sided curved display. The smartphone will be offered in two color options – glacial silver and piano black color options. It might feel like quite some time ago that the Pixel and Pixel XL were announced to the world, but in reality they’ve only just gone on sale, and they’ve already sold out before this in a lot of models. This isn’t the sort of launch that some were hoping for, but if not having enough stock is an indicator of success, then I’m sure that Google is pretty happy with themselves right about now.
The pre-orders are no more though and you can pick up a phone today at your nearest store and start using it. Continue reading “Where to buy the Google Pixel and Pixe XL : USA, UK, Canada and India”

Over the last few years, we have seen innovation slow down to a crawl in the mobile phone industry. Almost every phone launched feels like an incremental upgrade, offering maybe one or two features that really stand out from its competitors or even the previous generations. Modular design, a concept we first heard of from Google’s Project Ara was supposed to bring forth the next phase of smartphone evolution.
Unfortunately though, Project Ara was sacked. LG tried its hand at modular design with the G5, but the implementation had consumers shying away from the device. Or it could’ve been the fabulous sales of the S7 Edge. Lenovo’s Moto Mods is conceptually better than LG’s attempt, in that everyone will agree. And Lenovo is pushing the Moto Z lineup and the Moto mods with all its guns blazing. Skip the Sevens anyone? Continue reading “Motorola Moto Z, Moto Z Play and the Moto Mods Launched in India”

Apart from the Pixel Smartphones, it’s Google Home — the company’s AI-powered Amazon Echo rival — that could be the most important piece of hardware displayed on stage today at the Google Event in San Fransisco.
Google is playing catch up here, following in Amazon’s footsteps after the company unveiled the Echo back in 2014. The Xiaomi Mi5 was only released a couple of months ago, but the Chinese company is already refreshing it with some improved specifications. Xiaomi has also announced a larger version of the Mi5s, the aptly-named Mi5s Plus and with a dual lens camera. (Why does this sound like something we heard on September 7th before?)
It should be no surprise that this dual-SIM device — which has ditched the glass body to become fully metallic on the back — packs Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 821 chipset, meaning it offers not only improved computational performance but also super speedy tri-band 4G carrier aggregation.
