Moto Z Droid and Z Droid Force Android Nougat update rolling out on Verizon

Android Nougat was released on August 22 and was available for a long time as a developer preview version before that. Despite this, outside of the Nexus and Pixels, none of the devices are running the latest version of Android. In fact, only 0.3% of all android devices are currently on Android Nougat.

The Moto Z and Moto Z force started receiving the Nougat update a couple of days ago and now many Moto Z Droid and Z Droid Force users on Verizon are receiving the update as well. Continue reading “Moto Z Droid and Z Droid Force Android Nougat update rolling out on Verizon”

Motorola Moto Z, Moto Z Play and the Moto Mods Launched in India

Over the last few years, we have seen innovation slow down to a crawl in the mobile phone industry. Almost every phone launched feels like an incremental upgrade, offering maybe one or two features that really stand out from its competitors or even the previous generations. Modular design, a concept we first heard of from Google’s Project Ara was supposed to bring forth the next phase of smartphone evolution.

Unfortunately though, Project Ara was sacked. LG tried its hand at modular design with the G5, but the implementation had consumers shying away from the device. Or it could’ve been the fabulous sales of the S7 Edge. Lenovo’s Moto Mods is conceptually better than LG’s attempt, in that everyone will agree. And Lenovo is pushing the Moto Z lineup and the Moto mods with all its guns blazing. Skip the Sevens anyone? Continue reading “Motorola Moto Z, Moto Z Play and the Moto Mods Launched in India”

The latest addition to this campaign is a new video where Motorola makes Apple fans think the Moto Mods are an Apple innovation. Continue reading “Motorola trolls Apple in a new video”

Why removal of headphone jack in the iPhone 7 is not “courage” but “greed”

There’s a growing trend among smartphone manufacturers to do away with the 3.5mm audio jack that has long been the standard connector for a huge range of audio equipment over the past century. Motorola’s new Moto Z doesn’t feature a 3.5mm audio connector, neither does LeEco’s latest range of smartphones, and Apple has finally done away with the socket this year too. Of course, when Apple did it, it created a much more angry reaction from fans and haters alike than when Moto or LeEco did it.

In fact I had something to say about the removal of headphone jack on the Moto Z and LeEco. And while I still believe that, I am seeing a trend now and all these big names are writing about how Apple did the right thing, how headphone jacks are a 100 year old technology and they should go.

Specs Comparison: Galaxy Note 7 vs. Galaxy S7, Moto Z, G5, OnePlus 3, and HTC 10

The day is coming to a close and even though you are probably burned out on all of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 coverage, since it has fully dominated the past several hours, we wanted to toss out a specs comparison of Samsung’s latest flagship to the other top tier devices of the moment. After all, the phone arrives with a steeper than usual price and a set of specs that few can stand up with. But is all of this worth it when compared to say, the OnePlus 3 and its $400 price tag? Or is it better than the S7 Edge, which can be had for decent discounts these days? Or does it need a modular aspect like the G5 and Moto Z?

We’ll let you weigh in on that for now as we lead up to our full Galaxy Note 7 review. Let the battle begin.
