LG G6 is official now

After weeks of leaks from both unverified sources and LG themselves the LG G6 was finally officially announced on stage at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. The highlight of the device is its tall 5.7 inch QuadHD+ display with a new 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is small for a device with that big a display thanks to the minimum bezels and the company claims that the LG G6 only has a footprint of a 5.2 inch device. The new LG G6 display also supports two wider color standards: Dolby Vision and HDR 10. LG G6 invite hints at a ‘Full Vision’ near bezel-less display

LG usually drops hints regarding its product as and how it nears the launch date and the promotions for LG G6 are not much different. The company already notified that it will be holding a press event on February 26th and today the sent out another teaser image confirming that the LG G6 will indeed be a big part of the announcement if not the only part. Samsung to share some ‘big news’ on February 26 at MWC

Some people hate February, because of so many rather unnecessary days (hug day, rose day, this day that day) but smartphone nerds probably aren’t one of them. Samsung Mobile Chief confirms the Galaxy S8 will be a no-show at MWC this year

In what is indeed disappointing news for fans of the Samsung Galaxy smartphones, the head of Samsung’s mobile business confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will not be unveiled at MWC 2017 next month. DJ Koh has given a clear indication that the phone will be subject to more testing to ensure it doesn’t follow the same ill-fated path as the Galaxy Note 7. Koh told reporters at the presser that “lessons of this incident are deeply reflected in our culture and process”. LG sends out invites for February 26, could launch the LG G6

LG said earlier this month that it was thinking about announcing its G6 flagship at Mobile World Congress in February, and it looks like the company has decided to move ahead with the plan. LG has begun sending early invitations or ‘save-the-dates’ to the media for its press event at MWC 2017 event in Barcelona on February 26th. The invite has caption “See More, Play More” along with the event date.
