This is a question you may not have asked yourself, I have, a few times but I always dismissed it. I just didn’t think it matters, but what do I know, turns out it so very much does. And while the company actually under question here is Uber, the outcome, and the answer to it, will be one that will affect each and every one of the above mentioned names, and others like them.

A $300M funding from SoftBank could be what India’s Ola Cab needs right now

Ola is always a step behind Uber, investment might be one of the key factor but that soon is going to change. As per the ET report, SoftBank is all set to back India’s prime ride-hailing service Ola with ₹2,000cr.

According to sources close to the deal, ANI Technologies Pvt’s Ola may raise USD 250-300 million in a new round of funding led by the Japanese telecom and Internet major, and other existing investors may also participate. They added that the announcement is expected to be made in the next few weeks.

Google Maps adds Lyft and Gett services in USA and UK

Google first introduced price estimates for Uber rides way back in 2014, and while it’s a useful option if you’re running late to a meeting, the lack of other services was a little limiting. Google then added estimates for several more services: 99Taxis in Brazil, Ola Cabs in India, Hailo in the U.K. and Spain, mytaxi in Germany and Spain and Gett in the U.K.

Ola to offer an on-demand Lenovo Vibe K5 Note experience at your doorstep

Lenovo is all set to launch the most expected Vibe K5 Note smartphone in India today at 3PM, which will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart from August 4th. Flipkart has partnered with Ola to offer an on-demand experience of the Vibe K5 Note and ANT VR headset at the customer’s doorstep, before they start buying it on Flipkart. This is available in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Pune.

Customers booking a ride with Ola Prime on August 1st and 2nd, can unlock a new category on the Ola’s App VR-RIDE on August 3rd, while customers taking an Ola Prime ride on August 3rd and 4th, can unlock the category on August 5th and August 6th.
