Samsung to launch apology ad, plans to temporarily fix Galaxy Note 7 problems via OTA

Reports say Samsung plans to issue a software update for its recalled Galaxy Note 7 smartphones that will prevent them from overheating by limiting battery recharges to under 60 percent.

Yonhap News and other South Korean media reported Tuesday, citing Samsung Electronics, that the company will issue a software update for any users of the Galaxy Note 7 who may be disregarding its recall notice and continuing to use the smartphone.

Android Nougat for Nexus 6P OTA and factory images go live after being held back previously

Android 7.0 Nougat has been rolling out to Nexus 5X and 6P for a while now and many have been enjoying the latest android but Google held the update back for a little while to work out a few battery optimization issues as was reported by Vodafone Australia.

Google posted the OTA and Factory Images of Android 7.0 Nougat on Thursday night, finally giving Nexus 6P owners access to the new software.

This version has build number NRD90U and contains the September security update.

On a related note, the Nexus 2016 handsets dubbed “Google Pixel” and “Google Pixel XL” are gearing up for launch, most probably on the 4th of October. A credible source recently noted that these smartphones will run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.

Breaking the tradition, Google allowed LG to steal the limelight. In fact, the recently released LG V20 is the first smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 gets its first OTA Update

The first Samsung Galaxy Note 7 update is currently rolling out. Coinciding with the launch day of the highly anticipated 5.7-inch phablet is the release of a new firmware build. This means that those getting their hands on the Galaxy Note 7 today will most likely be welcomed with a treat — a software update — once they turn it on.
