It’s been exactly a year since Microsoft launched Windows 10 update for laptops, desktops and tablets. While millions of people from across the globe have already upgraded from Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 to Windows 10, there are a lot of people who still haven’t. Here’s everything you need to know about how to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

Among the people who have not yet upgraded to Windows 10, some of them maybe concerned about how the upgrade could impact on the functionality of their laptop or PC, and also the data stored on it. First things first, upgrading to Windows 10 will not affect your data. However, some programs that aren’t compatible with Windows 10 may not work after the upgrade.

After the end of today’s deadline (i.e. July 29, 2016), you will have to purchase a license to upgrade to the operating system. By upgrading to Windows 10, you will also be eligible to get a free upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which will be rolled out on August 2.
