Windows 10 adoption rates are 115 percent faster than Windows 7

Two months ago, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the software giant would be changing how it monitors the growth of Windows 10, tracking monthly active users — rather than devices —  after it became clear slow sales of Windows Phones meant the new OS wouldn’t hit the company’s stated goal of one billion devices by mid-2018.

Microsoft today announced that Windows 10 is now installed on over 400 million devices. It took the latest and greatest operating system from the company about 14 months to hit the new milestone. The tally is the first since the company said it wouldn’t meet its timeline for getting 1 billion devices running the new operating system.  Continue reading “Windows 10 adoption rates are 115 percent faster than Windows 7”

Microsoft’s all seeing eye that will track everything you do on your computer

Microsoft has often been accused of spying on its users with Windows 10 because the operating system collects some data needed to diagnose bugs and help improve reliability, but if this recently-patented technology ever reaches mass-production, the firm should really be ready for a never-seen-before amount of criticism.

The title of the company’s patent filing is “Query Formulation Via Task Continuum” and it aims to make it easier for apps to share data between them, in real-time, so that the user can make more informed decisions when performing searches.

Microsoft isn’t forcing Lenovo to block Linux

After failing to install Linux on a recent Lenovo laptop, a Reddit user claims to have received a short reply from Lenovo’s support team: “This system has a Signature Edition of Windows 10 Home installed. It is locked per our agreement with Microsoft.” Which is how the story started.

Remix OS Player : Run Android apps on Windows with the fastest & most optimized emulator

Jide Technology’s Remix OS is an Android-based operating system that takes Google’s mobile OS and makes it feel more like a desktop OS. It ships on a handful of tablets, mini-desktops, and other devices, and earlier this year Jide released Remix OS for PC, allowing just about anyone to download and run the operating system on computers with Intel or AMD chips.

Remix OS is basically a desktop version of Android, with floating windows and a start menu-style app drawer. So, it makes sense that creators Jide would make it as easy to use on a desktop. And now they have via Remix OS Player – a free, downloadable emulator of the OS for Windows. It’s always been fairly easy to get Remix OS on a Windows device by booting from a USB stick, for example, but with the Player you simply download it as .EXE.

(Update : @MSAU officially confirms what we have suspected) Microsoft Australia supposedly confirms the Surface Phone! But we think not

Update : We contacted Microsoft Australia regarding this supposed accidental tweet and they have denied the tweet was from them and may have been edited. Analysing the situation closely however, as a conspiracy theorist, it may even be possible that the earlier report was true, and of course Microsoft Australia would want to cover it’s tracks. It seems very unlikely, however, we like to consider all possibilities.  We’ll let you decide for yourselves. In any case, it’s nice to see

Although one may wonder, what are the odds this could be an edited image as well, we can assure you it is “One Hundred Percent” authentic.
